I bought the skid steer back in 2004 to work on my own property. I then had a contractor friend that needed another skid to help on a site so I brought mine in and started helping. Along the way I got some work with some other contractors helping them out when they needed it, along with building 10+ motocross tracks in the meantime.

Last the reason why nobody wanted the job was a couple of reasons, the basic got down to the manufacturer of the rafters to hang the false ceiling on, they needed to design a rafter that held the whole bulding together for their liability reasons, we needed to put supports up the sidewalls on the inside, hang the rafters and install a knee . I have a mid-to-late 70’s Mustang Skid Steer, Model 330, with its original MHC MS/2699B 18HP Onan Engine. I’ve owned it for 10 years and used it infrequently (200 hours) under light loads during this period. Sits for months without startup. Guessing the engine has approximately 3,500 hours on it (hour meter broken). I want a machine I can use as needed and be the least amount of trouble for me. (ie maintenance/repairs) To throw a loop in the question, since I only have a few acres, would any one suggest skipping a skid steer and buying a tractor. I think a tractor would be nice, but moving dirt would be way easier with the skid. Around here it's not hard to find companies to do skid steer work for 45 an hour with a 3 hour minimum. They are incorporated and say they are insured so I do not know how they can make it. Most people I know in the business charge 50 an hour for friends and 75 an hour for everyone else.

I am thinking of purchasing a used JCB tracked skid steer the 1110T model. Does any one have any comments and experience with JCB skid steer loaders? How well does the machine hold up in construction work? What are the machines problems, I read some where else that electrical wiring is a problem? How well does the company support the machines?

A driver at work said he has a 1980ish Case skid steer with a diesel 580 case engine which needs a fuel pump.. apparently he tried to change it but it wouldnt fire. The machine will fire with starting fluid then die, he had asked me to . Thank you. The manual release doesn’t seem to work but I needed the skid steer yesterday to pull another piece of equipment and magically the lift arms are working again. It was cooler yesterday so perhaps it is a temperature thing. Will try to figure out this solenoid another day. Hard to do it when it is working. Thanks again.
