My LS 180 cuts power to fuel shutoff ( jumpered from batt to keep running , put meter on shutoff solenoid wire) without any warning lights. It will run in service mode fine and it will keep running in run mode if rpms are up, but as soon as you back off throttle it immediately .Is there a good way to check for a failing fuel shut off solenoid? Also. if you have water in the tank. the siphon tube in the tank could be frozen. Answered in 18 minutes by: Technician: ebnel. Did you check your fuel transfer pump if is running or has 12 volt with key on? Transfer pump is located next to fuel strainer. Your fuel solenoid is directly behind injection pump housing,left side. . Check the fuses in the cab fuse panel. Then check for power at the fuel shutoff solenoid on the injection pump. Check for fuel flow on the discharge side of the lift pump before you replace it. If you keep up with the inline filter the lift pump is very durable. Shutoff solenoids can and do fail, too. You can unthread it and bench test one easily.
