Recently bought a Case 450 track loader. I bought it sitting for years and from wife of deceased farmer. It is so hard to start (due to very slow cranking.) It is driving me nuts! It is diesel. I have a case 450B crawler and could do with a bit of help. i recently changed the trans oil as it was milky and horrible looking no metal though. i didn't touch the filters a i intended to run it for a few hours and drain it again so as to flush the system and change the filter and clean the screen then.
My Dad bought a 1973 case 450 track loader. It has the case 188 engine. When he brought it home from the auction the transmission was low on oil. I'm wondering if it has been over heated and damaged. Now I have filled it and ran it. In low gear it has lots of power and no problems. In high gear it lugged down but still climbed a 7% grade hill. My boss has an old case 450 dozer track loader. The story on this baby is that it ran great( I have never seen it run considering it's been setting for two years ) until the starter went out. He took the starter and had it rebuilt (or bought a new one) and ran great again.
