tracks vs wheels skid steer I just bought a set of Hi Qual s wave tracks about 2 months ago. So far I love them. They outweigh my previous generic C Pad tracks by a lot and are thicker. They pull like a straight bar but ride nicer on hard ground. I got a little over 100 hours on them and they still have the casting marks on the tread blocks.

The choice between wheels and tracks on a skid steer depends on the specific . The most expensive kit includes a set of tracks, two fully assembled sprockets, outboard bearings and all the wheel tubes (now with face seals) and wheels fully assembled. The cheaper kit includes a new set of tracks, fully asembled sprockets and outboard bearings and all 48 idlers and bogies along with all the necessary hardware. Rock, especially sharp rock, is hard on CTLs. The backhoe attachments in my view (I have had one) are limited in ability. Don't even waste your money getting a 6 way blade for a CTL. I would get a machine that can do the majority of what you have planned, and that may not be a skid steer (wheeled or tracked), and rent or hire out the rest of it.

One of the positives of the T320 is the option to retain a solid undercarriage along with steel tracks, vs. roller-suspension on the 299C and rubber/steel-reinforced track. On machines with roller-suspension it seems like one gives up some machine capacity in favor of operator comfort, and probably reliability/operating cost. The tracks will certainly tear into the side walls at times. Ideally, running airless tires would be the best solution if your going to have them on for any length of time. That of course will at 3k or more to the cost of running them, but I agree that especially in slippery conditions like hilly, snow covered areas.
The Skid Steer was fist made in the 50's by the Keller brothers in thier blacksmith shop for a local turkey farmer. The Otter Tail County Museum, Fergus Falls Mn. currently has that machine. The first Skit Steer (4X4) as we know them today was produced under the Melroe name after they partnered with the Kellers.
