Remove the two nuts holding the starter to the engine block. Take care to not lose the nuts and the washers. Remove the wire assembly attached to the lower nut/bolt. Remove the valve cover and watch the valves on #1 as you turn it over from TDC. The exhaust valve should start to open. If it does then for sure you have it timed right. If it doesn't open but the intake does, then remove your pump and turn the engine over 1 full turn and then reinstall your pump.Then remove the three bolts holding the starter in. Removing the throttle linkage will give you a little more access for starter removal. As you remove the starter, twist it to clear the injection pump. Remove the wires from the starter and remove the top bolt next to the engine block and the lower outer bolt. Now remove the last bolt, the attaching the ground wires.
