I recently purchased a 2002 cat 246 skid steer (s# 5SZ04301) It had quite a few electrical problems. The previous owner had jerry rigged it pretty good. At the time of purchase the parking break and seat belt lights were flashing. So the machine would not travel and the bucket would not operate. but if no warranty then napa filters are just as good, but like in the oil products in ur newer equipment never run anything with a ISO number witch is on the back label, plus if its on the bucket it will also have on it that it meets certain recamandations from cat,deer,case,exc. a good all around hyd. oil is the 303 hyd trains. oil that's in . I tried every control imaginable to get it to kick in. Right hand thumbwheel in both directions, continuous flow button on left joystick, hydraulic interlock override and lockout at the same time. There was never any change in the tone of the engine or movement of hydraulic attachment hoses. Everything else works normally.

They said the flash file Number should be 3210051, but finished with 4420047(see attached photo), which I didn’t noticed at cat’s office. The nice technician told me that based on the warning message, the problem would be a short circuit between parking brake’s two wires, and there should be “park brake solenoid voltage low” warning . So for a hydraulic system an SAE 15W/40 engine oil would be the recommendation. Those days are thankfully long gone and now each compartment is specified for the type of fluid that is actually needs in relation to the components in the system. I would go for an SAE10W hydraulic oil (HYDO) or an SAE10W TO-4 TDTO).
