We do a lot of small lots here on Vancouver island, most lots run from .07 to .25 acres within the city so full sized skid isn't really always practical. It seemed like the cleanup and damage the bobcat or mini ex would do, along with tight spots that still needed hand work anyway wasn't really worth it to get a machine in. New transmission on 1. Constant hydraulic leaks and little stuff like that. Have a night mechanic so everything is serviced as it should be. Kubota seems to make quality machines and affordable prices. Have Kubota mini ex, skid steer and front loader. May give the SCL 1000 a shot but seeing if anyone had one or knew anything about em Mini X Kubota is top quality. In fact most mini x are worth a serious look. Buy local is best. Don't shop price without considering how far away you will be from service. Most guys have on site service which is crucial imo If you go skid steer get a tracked model, Cat or Terex having one of the best and most comfortable to operate.

How small of a skid steer? Weight? I've seen small skid steers that ride fine on light duty car trailers(7000#). That truck should pull 7K alright. Brakes shouldn't be an issue if the trailer brakes are working as they should. That 5.0L will be a dog though with 7k on it.
